November kicks off with a guest speaker and an exciting workshop, and then will conclude our fall sermon series on The 10 Challenges, and updated look at the 10 Commandments.
November 3: Be Realistic – Expect a Miracle! with John Harold Moore
The holiday season is just around the corner, and many of us will soon be with our families. Would you like some tools and insights to help you have a different experience this year? With heart-opening stories in humor, John will share what he’s learned from A Course in Miracles and other New Thought teachings, his work with Family Constellations, and his master teacher on forgiveness, his mother! Are you ready for a miracle? We invite you to stay after service to attend John’s workshop based on his Family Constellations work. Click here to read more!
November 10: Challenge 8. Be Honest, Be Kind
Thou shalt not steal.” Most of us would never think of stealing things or money, but we don’t always consider the effects our actions have on others, and the things we may be taking from them. Or qualities we are wasting, talents we are burying or hiding.
November 17: Challenge 9. Stay in Your Hula Hoop
Thou shalt not bear false witness.” This is the commandment against “bearing false witness,” against a neighbor. Is it about lying under oath in court? Or can it be that any time we speak with partial information, assumptions, our own perceptions and judgments—in other words, gossip—we are bearing false witness? Spending time and attention on the lives of others distracts you from the one life you are responsible for.
November 24: Challenge 10. Live in Gratitude
Thou shalt not covet.” This is the commandment against covetousness—or envy. When we want what others have—feel jealous or envious, we are believing that there is not enough to go around. We ignore our own blessings, perpetuate a world view of lack– “if you win, I lose.” In New Thought we recognize the universe as abundant beyond measure. Nothing that is truly ours can ever be taken from us. Gratitude for what we have is the first step to truly believing in abundance. Stay after service for a Thanksgiving potluck!
