About Cathedral of Light
Cathedral of Light History
In early August, 1985, the newly formed Community Church of Religious Science held its first Sunday service at the Wyndham Hotel on Interstate 35 in Dallas, Texas.
Under the leadership of Rev. Kay Hunter, founder and senior minister, the need for space for classes prompted the church to move to Community Drive and Northwest Highway in the Crossroads Shopping Center where it soon grew to rent an entire building. After 10 years in that location, renamed Cathedral of Light, the church bought a property at 2040 N. Denton Drive in Carrollton, Texas, a community just north of the city of Dallas.
The beautiful grounds provided a meditation garden, ample parking space, and a fully equipped playground for the children. It has been the perfect site with a gazebo to augment a beautiful sanctuary, perfect for weddings and other ceremonies. The Social Hall is large enough for dinners and receptions. The church building is handicap accessible, easily accommodating wheel chairs and walkers throughout.
Based on the teachings of the Master Teacher, Jesus, and other master teachers, and the principles of A Course in Miracles, Cathedral of Light became independent in the 1990’s and remains so today. We are a loving church family that welcomes people of all faiths to practice a joy-filled, peaceful way of life beyond all judgment.
