Rev. Kay Hunter
Founder and Senior Minister
Our earth journey takes us on many paths as we fulfill our soul’s purpose. Such was the case of the life of Rev. Kay Hunter.
Raised a devout Catholic, she followed that religious path for some forty-seven years. Drawn to writing at an early age, she chose to study advertising and public relations, and education at Texas Women’s University and North Texas Agricultural College in preparation for a career.
At twenty-one she met and married Albert Hunter. That marriage produced a family of 5 children, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild to date.
When she was twenty-seven Kay began studying the work of Dr. Ernest Homes, “Science of Mind”, Emerson’s Essays, Emily Cody’s, “Truth Principles”, and many other metaphysical studies with her mentor, Maureen Christian. This would be a study that lasted for more than 20 years. After her divorce in 1977, Kay was called to go to Los Angeles to attend Ernest Holmes Ministerial College of Religious Science. She was licensed and came to Dallas to begin her ministry.
Rev. Hunter’s career has seen many changes over her life span. Her resume includes kindergarten and second grade teacher, advertising executive and owner of an ad agency. She had also been a promotional and advertising director in charge of the road tours of musical groups such as Lawrence Welk, Liberace, Johnny Mathis, Earth Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, Doug Henning and the World of Magic, and others. Each of these opportunities would later assist her in her ministry as counselor, communicator, and teacher.
To Reverend Kay, her life has truly been “A Course In Miracles” as a teaching tool and as her life’s purpose unfolding. She has spent the past thirty plus years as the founding and senior minister of the Cathedral of Light dedicated to serving God and all His children with love wherever they are on their personal path to enlightenment.
